Over the last couple of years, I’ve noticed that several of my friends have adopted the phrase “not a fan.” There are books, tee shirts, and even a DVD series devoted to this simple phrase. You can ‘like’ “not a fan” on Facebook, or even become a fan of “not a fan.” In a world where media has such a strong persuasive effect, I was determined not to give in. I would not wear the wrist band or buy the tee shirt, and I certainly wouldn’t be caught reading the book.

But now, after all this time, I’m giving in. I’m tired of everyone else freely proclaiming that they are “not a fan” while I keep quiet. But now, it’s time to break the silence. I need it to be made known that I too, am “Not A Fan.”
